Canon OC-E3 Off-Camera Flash Shoe Cord

The Canon OC-E3 Off-Camera Shoe Cord is an exclusive accessory for EOS series digital SLR and film cameras, as well as the PowerShot G-Series digital cameras, which allows an external flash to be used away from the camera. The flash can be located as far as 0.6m/2 ft. away from the camera and still perform all the automatic functions possible with flash photography. In addition, the flash connector is fitted with a tripod socket which gives the photographer the option of attaching the flash to a separate tripod for extra stability.

The Canon OC-E3 also features improved construction and durability compared to previous off-camera shoe cords. The OC-E3 has better sealing against dust and moisture, to match the weather-resistant design of the EOS 1D Mark III and the 580EX II flash. It also now features a sturdier foot and a metal female screw collar on the upper shoe bracket.

Using an off-camera flash provides the photographer with the flexibility to direct light from a variety of angles, allowing simple but effective fill lighting for balancing outdoor shots or hiding shadows under harsh indoor lights. An off-camera flash is also an effective primary light source when less direct lighting is desired.
