Key Features:

Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor:
The Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor (35.9 x 24.0mm) with 24.3 effective megapixels delivers stable, high image quality at a wide ISO sensitivity range from ISO 100 to 6400 (expandable to ISO 50 to 25600 equivalent) utilizing large pixel pitch. You can enjoy beautiful bokeh effects that only the FX format with its large-size image plane can offer, while 14-bit A/D conversion and a high signal-to-noise ratio deliver images with rich tonal gradation and reduced noise. Combined with its high resolution, this achieves high-quality images that can be enlarged or cropped. And what maximizes the advantage of this high resolution are the NIKKOR lenses that deliver superior optical performance. The vast array of the FX lens lineup makes a wide variety of photographic expression possible. In movie shooting, the abundant data from 24.3 megapixels produces full HD movies with high definition.

EXPEED 3 image-processing engine:
The D610 incorporates EXPEED 3 image-processing engine, optimized for digital SLRs, the same as the D4, D800 series. It processes data of 24.3 effective megapixels at high speed. Nikon's very own Picture Control system is only made possible by the EXPEED 3, helping you achieve the images and movies you want. It excels at color reproduction, gradation processing and image quality at high sensitivity. It reduces color phase shift and reproduces human skin tone more faithfully. Furthermore, from image processing and SD card recording to image playback and image transfer, EXPEED 3 manages massive amounts of data at high speed. Even with specialized processing features like Active D-Lighting and high ISO noise reduction, continuous shooting speed is not sacrificed and the impact to the number of shots in continuous shooting is minimized. EXPEED 3 supports Full HD D-Movie of 1,920 x 1,080; 30p. It is possible to record movies with minimized noise while maintaining resolution even at high ISO settings using the noise-reduction function designed for movies.

14-bit A/D conversion and 16-bit image processing for rich tones:
The D610 achieves reproduction of rich tonal gradation by 16-bit image processing of the digital signal resulting from 14-bit A/D conversion within the image sensor. Gradation in highlight areas, which can be hard to reproduce, is rendered smoothly.

Direct access to Picture Control for quick setting changes:
Just by pressing the Picture Control button (doubles as a retouch button) on the back of the camera, you can quickly access the Picture Control setting display without entering a menu. During live view, you can visually confirm on an LCD monitor how the image is affected by Picture Control settings and easily adjust them.

Software:
Supplied software ViewNX 2 provides importing and browsing capabilities of images and movies, and incorporates frequently used image-editing functions such as resize and brightness adjustment. Also, ViewNX 2 employs not only still-image editing functions such as crop, straighten and RAW processing but also movie-editing functions equivalent to those of the camera. In addition, smooth coordination with Nikon image storing and sharing service, NIKON IMAGE SPACE, is realized. This all-in-one browsing/editing software package will allow more photographers to enjoy digital images and movies, more easily.

Picture Control:
The D610's Picture Control system lets you fine-tune sharpening, contrast, saturation, hue, and various adjustments for Monochrome, etc. in both still images and movies according to your preference. Select one of six different modes -- Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome, Portrait and Landscape. It's also possible to save adjustments as Custom Picture Controls, under your chosen name for particular shooting scenarios.

The defining power to maximize 24.3-megapixel resolution -- NIKKOR:
To best draw out the full potential that a high-pixel-count digital camera can offer to render high-resolution images, using a high-performance lens that compensates various kinds of aberrations in a finely balanced way is of vital importance. NIKKOR lenses feature superior optical performance and excellent reliability, and are highly praised by professional photographers all around the world. In addition to the high optical performance, Nikon's original technologies such as Nano Crystal Coat and VR render high-resolution and clear images to maximize the D610's primary high resolution of 24.3 effective megapixels. Moreover, this extensive, diverse lens lineup helps inspire the creative motivation of photographers.

Auto white balance that supports various light sources accurately:
The D610 detects color and brightness information of the shooting scene before shooting utilizing the Scene Recognition System and identifies the light source highly accurately by referencing its massive collection of in-camera shooting data. The auto white balance accuracy for common shooting scenarios has been enhanced, enabling the camera to reproduce colors naturally and precisely both indoors and outdoors. In addition to the conventional setting of Auto 1 (Normal) that compensates lighting colors, the D610 allows you to set another auto white balance mode, Auto 2 (Keep warm lighting colors), that maintains warm lighting ambience when you shoot under incandescent light. If the image is shot in RAW, these modes can be applied using the NEF (RAW) processing of the D610's in-camera retouch menus regardless of the shooting setting.

Wide standard ISO sensitivity ranging from ISO 100 to 6400:
The D610's standard ISO sensitivity, that clears Nikon's severe test conditions, ranges from ISO 100 to 6400. Under harsh lighting conditions, it is possible to expand to ISO 50 (Lo 1) or ISO 25600 (Hi 2) equivalent. The D610's large FX-format CMOS sensor responds to a variety of lighting situations such as the harsh glare of the midday sun, the low light of dusk, a dimly lit interior and night scenes. Also, the superior noise reduction function reduces noise effectively at high ISO setting, and suppresses noise even for low-contrast subjects such as hair and grass textures while maintaining resolution as much as possible. This excellent high ISO sensitivity performance is powerfully effective even in movie recording.

Nikon's noise-reduction method:
Thanks to its improved image-processing performance and a comprehensive noise reduction system, the D610 successfully minimizes noise at higher ISOs while substantially broadening the standard ISO range. What makes Nikon's noise-reduction method superior is that noise appearing in an image is analyzed, and then optimized noise reduction is applied accordingly. The result: effective noise control in your movies and still images, all without sacrificing the fine details.

Auto ISO sensitivity control:
Auto ISO sensitivity control lets the camera adjust ISO sensitivity automatically if optimal exposure cannot be achieved at the selected value. The D610 comes equipped with an "Auto" option for minimum shutter speed. The shutter speed at which the camera will start increasing ISO sensitivity for optimal exposure is automatically selected based on the lens focal length. This enables shooting with efficiently reduced camera shake when using a zoom lens or if the lens is changed. The controlled value can be minutely adjusted according to the subject's movement or photographer's needs. Auto ISO sensitivity control can be set using the menu, and can also be immediately accessed with the ISO button and sub-command dial.

Active D-Lighting with enhanced image quality:
Active D-Lighting preserves details in both highlights and shadowy areas, maintaining moderate contrast to reproduce brightness as you see it, even when shooting high-contrast subjects in backlit situations. The D610 employs a new image-processing system that delivers superior reproduction without shifting color phase even when the strength level is increased. It reproduces brightness as you see it even in high-contrast lighting scenes such as gradation of the sky. Image-processing time is shortened by high-speed and highly accurate, real-time processing within pipelines. And color reproduction is improved thanks to the EXPEED 3 image-processing engine. Active D-Lighting is suitable for moving subjects such as people while HDR is effective for stationary subjects.

6-fps continuous shooting:
The D610 achieves high-speed performance by employing an exclusive driving mechanism that drives the mirror independently. Combined with the swift performance of the EXPEED 3 image-processing engine, high-speed continuous shooting at up to approx. 6 fps in FX formats, for a maximum of 100 shots is realized. Using dynamic-area AF allows you to capture the decisive moment of a moving subject more precisely. Start-up time is only approx. 0.13 s and release time lag is approx. 0.052 s which is close to the approx. 0.042 s of the D4. The shutter-release button and power switch are coaxially located, realizing smooth transition from turning on the camera to releasing the shutter, while the grip shape does not hinder finger movement. All of this contributes to quick and comfortable shooting, helping you to capture unexpected photo opportunities.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) that produces a single image with a wider dynamic range:
Two images taken with one shutter release at different exposures are combined to produce a single image that has a wider dynamic range. Since exposure differential can be expanded up to 3 EV, the result is images with less noise and rich tonal gradation including shadows and highlights, even for high-contrast shooting scenes. The smoothness of the edge where the two exposures meet can be adjusted (the degree is selectable from high, normal and low) according to your intention. HDR is ideal for stationary subjects such as high-contrast landscapes and still lifes.

Lateral chromatic aberration reduction/auto distortion control/vignette control that support sharp resolution even in peripheral areas:
Unlike other correction methods that simply eliminate the colors of chromatic aberration, Nikon's lateral chromatic aberration reduction compensates for the differences in the resolving sizes of each color. This proves especially effective for reducing image distortion at the edges of a frame and for improving image quality throughout the entire frame, regardless of the NIKKOR lenses used. If you set "On" for "Auto distortion control" when using G or D lenses, barrel distortion caused by a wide-angle lens or pin-cushion distortion caused by a telephoto lens can be compensated. Also, it employs "Vignette control" that reduces the drop in brightness at the edges of a photograph caused by characteristics of the lens.

Approx. 100% frame coverage:
The D610's optical viewfinder features approx. 100% frame coverage that enables confirmation of the entire large image area of FX format for precise composition. And approx. 0.7x magnification allows easy viewing of all the visual elements including the viewfinder information display. The frame coverage and magnification are the same as those of the D4 and D3 series, realizing comfortable shooting. In addition, grid lines can optionally be placed across the viewfinder (in FX format), a feature that is convenient for composition in landscape or architectural shooting.

Q (quiet) / Qc (quiet continuous) shutter-release mode:
The quiet shutter-release mode is suitable when you want to shoot with less mirror movement sound. For a single frame, the mirror does not click back into place while the shutter-release button is fully pressed, allowing delay of the timing of the click made by the mirror and insulating the sound by covering the camera with a cloth, which is also quieter than in single frame mode. Simply select "Q" on the release mode dial to smoothly switch between single-frame mode and quiet shutter-release mode as needed. Furthermore, the D610's new Qc (quiet continuous) shutter-release mode reduces mirror noise while still offering up to 3 fps, for maximum discretion when capturing cautious, elusive subjects or shooting quiet scenes such as a ceremony, school play or when taking pictures of wildlife, or insects.

High-density 39-point AF system:
The D610 comes equipped with a Multi-CAM 4800 autofocus sensor module. 39 focus points acquire and track subjects precisely and the nine cross-type sensors cover the most frequently used center area to deliver higher subject-acquisition performance. AF area can be selected from single-point AF, dynamic-area AF (9 points, 21 points, 39 points), 3D-tracking and auto-area AF. Combined with the Scene Recognition System utilizing a 2016-pixel RGB sensor that recognizes smaller subjects, the D610 shows higher subject-tracking and subject-identification performance. Furthermore, it is possible to choose an 11-point option by using custom settings. This is convenient for selecting a focus point quickly.

  • Single-point AF mode:
The camera focuses on the subject at a selected focus point only. This is most suitable for stationary subjects, for example, when you want to focus on your subject's eyes in a character portrait.
  • Dynamic-area AF mode:
Suitable for a moving subject. The camera will focus based on information from surrounding focus points if the subject briefly leaves the selected point. Dynamic-area AF allows you to choose from 9, 21 or 39 points. In each mode, the selected AF point and the surrounding points cover a wide area to keep your subject in sharp focus, combining with AF-C (continuous-servo AF) of autofocus mode.
  • 3D-tracking mode:
The camera tracks the subject using all 39 points. This is ideal for shooting subjects that are moving erratically from side to side in a creative composition. Once the subject is focused with a selected focus point, the camera maintains tracking of the subject by automatically shifting among focus points according to the subject's movement while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. By utilizing subject tracking of the Scene Recognition System, the D610 recognizes fine patterns of the subject's color and brightness that are tracked with selected focus point to achieve highly accurate and stable subject tracking.
  • Auto-area AF mode:
The camera identifies and focuses the subject automatically using all 39 focus points. With a G- or D-type AF NIKKOR lens, the D610 can distinguish foreground and background and detects a person's position by recognizing human skin tone for improved subject acquisition.

Seven focus points compatible with f/8 make super-telephoto shooting attainable:
The seven focus points (five central focus points and one point to the left and right of them in the middle line) are compatible with f/8. Stress-free and smooth focusing is realized with the 1.4x or 1.7x teleconverter and precise focusing is possible even with the effective aperture value of f/8 by attaching a 2.0x teleconverter to telephoto lenses with maximum aperture of f/4. Comfortable AF shooting is realized for shooting wild birds or trains, for example, from a long distance at high magnification. Furthermore, the compact, lightweight combination of the D610, NIKKOR FX lenses and teleconverter makes long-distance shooting more accessible than ever.

Contrast-detect AF that enables sharp focusing:
The D610's enhanced contrast-detect AF speed is equivalent to that of the D4 and D800 series. During live view and movie recording, high-speed and sharp focusing is realized. Selectable autofocus modes include single-servo AF (AF-S) suitable for still image shooting, and full-time-servo AF (AF-F) for movie shooting. Also, from four AF-area modes, you can select the most appropriate mode according to your subject. Contrast-detect AF allows you to focus anywhere within a frame to expand your creative freedom.

  • Face-priority AF:
Suitable for focusing on a person's face such as for a commemorative photo. Up to 35 faces can be detected. When multiple faces are detected, the camera will focus on the subject recognized to be the closest. Alternatively, you can choose a different face in the frame with the multi selector.
  • Wide-area AF:
For handheld shooting of landscape shots. The focus point can be moved to the desired position within a frame.
  • Normal-area AF:
Since the focus point is smaller than that of the wide-area AF, it is ideal for tripod shooting to achieve a pin-point focus in close-up shots. The focus point can be moved to the desired position within a frame.
  • Subject-tracking AF:
Suitable for a moving subject. After focus is locked with the center button of the multi selector, the focus point tracks the subject's movement.

Scene Recognition System with accuracy achieved by the 2016-pixel RGB sensor:
Scene Recognition System recognizes the subject's situation accurately prior to shooting and enables precise auto control, which professional photographers will appreciate in a variety of situations.

  • The D610's Scene Recognition System:
The D610 precisely analyzes the subject's situation before shooting, including brightness and color, employing information from the 2016-pixel RGB sensor and the high-pixel count image sensor, and applies it to autofocus, auto exposure, i-TTL balanced fill-flash, auto white balance control and Active D-Lighting.
  • Subject identification/Subject tracking:
In phase-detection AF using the viewfinder, the high precision of auto-area AF is assisted by subject identification, while 3D-tracking is supported utilizing subject tracking. In contrast-detect AF during live view and video recording, for subject-tracking AF, the image sensor's subject tracking is utilized to assist the high precision of auto-focus.
  • Light source identification/Highlight analysis:
Light source identification is used not only for enhancing the precision of auto white balance. But it is also for exposure control and i-TTL balanced fill-flash, incorporated with highlight analysis that meticulously detects the highlights of an image.
  • Face detection on image plane:
Face-priority AF is also available, using the image sensor's face detection information during live view or movie recording. In playback of still images, faces can be zoomed in on, allowing easy confirmation of focus.

Two types of image area options:
The D610 offers selectable image area options: FX format (35.9 x 24mm) and DX format (23.5 x 15.7mm). Each image area can be confirmed in the viewfinder. DX format offers an angle of view equivalent to approx. 1.5x lens focal length, useful for creating an extension to the focal length of an existing lens. Also, you can make good use of your DX lenses because it is possible to keep sufficient image size (approx. 10.4 megapixels) even in DX-format image area thanks to the 24.3 effective megapixels. When a DX NIKKOR lens is used, DX format is automatically selected as the default setting.

Virtual horizon that can detect inclination in rolling and pitching directions:
The in-camera virtual horizon can detect both rolling (horizontal inclination) and pitching (forward or rear inclination) directions and display the inclination of the rolling and pitching directions on the LCD monitor and rolling direction in the viewfinder. This function is especially useful when shooting subjects such as still lifes, landscapes and architecture.

Remarkably compact and lightweight body:
Inheriting an array of specifications and functions equivalent to those of the D4 and D800 series, the D610 combines them in a remarkably small and light camera body. There has been a comprehensive improvement of many details, such as reducing the number of components by giving multiple functions to each one, reviewing the space efficiency of various parts, optimizing the design around the pentaprism and employing a smaller AF sensor module. All of these factors help achieve a compact and lightweight body with superior agility.

Lightweight and ruggedly constructed body with dust-prevention and weather-resistance employing magnesium alloy:
The D610 employs magnesium alloy for the top and rear covers. Despite its compact and lightweight body, it achieves high robustness and durability. Also, various points of the body are effectively sealed to attain superior dust-prevention and weather-resistant performance equivalent to that of the D800 series.

Shutter-release button and power switch ergonomics:
The shutter button axis is moderately inclined to ensure natural finger movement even with such a compact body, to enhance operability. The power switch has been designed flat so as not to disturb shutter release operation. And there is no height difference between the power switch and body surface, for relaxed finger holding. The red motif located at the upper part of the grip employs molded materials to support smooth dial operation. The movie-record button is located next to the shutter-release button enabling the start of movie recording from movie live view with a slight finger movement, thus keeping the camera stable to prevent camera shake.

Improved grip holding:
With a deeper and vertically longer grip, stable holding is achieved despite a compact and light body. Furthermore, rubber material is employed for the thumb rest space attaining an optimized design to ensure reliable holding. These factors achieve a comfortable fit for the widest range of hand sizes.

Dust-preventing, weather-resistant interface covers:
The interface cover for the headphone connector, USB connector, accessory terminal, etc., is divided into three to ensure dust-prevention and weather-resistance for the separate interface sections.

Base patterns effective for vertical shooting:
The D610 incorporates anti-slip patterns on the base of the body which realize an extra-sure grip when shooting vertically on a tripod.

Highly durable and precise shutter mechanisms tested for 150,000 cycles:
The D610 employs a high-speed and high-precision sequential control mechanism that drives the shutter, mirror and aperture independently. The shutter has been tested for 150,000 cycles with the shutter unit and driving mechanism actually loaded to prove its extremely high durability, appropriate for a precision, digital SLR camera. Furthermore, it also incorporates a compact self-diagnostic shutter monitor to maintain high precision stably. The shutter monitor checks and detects shutter speed variance between set or controlled shutter speed and actual speed constantly to achieve highly accurate shutter control with minimized variance.

SD memory card double slots compatible with high-speed SDXC and UHS-I:
The D610 supports SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) and UHS-I. Combined with the rapid performance of the EXPEED 3 image-processing engine, it processes and writes image data of 24.3 megapixels at high speed. In high-speed continuous shooting, the number of available shots is 100 frames in JPEG and 16 frames in RAW (lossless compressed/14-bit). Also, Eye-Fi card (on the market) that allows wireless transmission of the taken images from a camera to a PC is supported. Moreover, a variety of recording options is available -- "Overflow", "Backup", and "RAW primary, JPEG secondary" recording that lets you record RAW data and JPEG data separately to each card. What's more, you can copy images between the two memory cards. In addition, when shooting D-Movie clips, you can select the slot according to the remaining capacity.

Coaxially located mode dial and release mode dial:
The mode dial and release mode dial are coaxially located to improve operability. Quick mode switching is possible. The mode dial incorporates a lock function to prevent unintentional mode switching. The lock release is easy to operate allowing smooth and secure release. Quiet shutter-release mode, which is quieter than single-frame mode, can be set using the release mode dial.

Live view optimized for still images/movies selectable with live view selector:
The D610 comes equipped with live view for still images and movies, providing display and operation optimized for each of them. This can be switched smoothly using the coaxially located live view button and live view selector. Live view photography is dedicated to still image shooting with the same aspect ratio as the viewfinder. And the speed of contrast-detect AF is equivalent to that of the D4 and D800 series. In live view, it is possible to magnify images up to approx. 19x to check the exact focus. Also, metering in live view is adjusted to suit the live view display, producing photographs with exposure close to what is seen in the monitor.

921k-dot, wide-viewing angle, 8-cm (3.2-in.) LCD monitor:
The D610's large, wide-viewing-angle, 8-cm (3.2-in.), approx. 921k-dot, high-definition LCD monitor achieves clear visibility and an extended color reproduction capacity, with less surface reflection by means of an integrated structure of glass and panel. The ability to magnify playback images up to approx. 38x (Large-size images in FX format) is extremely helpful for quick and accurate focus confirmation. Moreover, the D610 employs an ambient brightness sensor. If monitor brightness is set to "Auto", the camera automatically adjusts LCD brightness when the monitor turns on according to the environmental lighting conditions, allowing easy live view or image confirmation.

Nikon's Integrated Dust-Reduction System with Image Sensor Cleaning function:
Nikon's comprehensive dust-reduction measures are realized by repeating thorough tests to respond to the demands of photographers. The D610 employs an Image Sensor Cleaning function that vibrates the optical low-pass filter at four different resonant frequencies to reduce dust. This function can be set to operate automatically when the camera is turned on or off, or to manual using menu. Moreover, Nikon takes extra measures to prevent dust spoiling images, such as operating certain parts prior to body assembly so as not to disperse dust after mounting within the camera, and reducing or deleting any spots with optional software.

Energy-saving design:
An efficient power circuit, the highly energy-efficient EXPEED 3 and other features reduce the power consumption of the D610. It adopts the EN-EL15 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, which is the same as the D800 series and D7000. It is possible to shoot approx. 900 shots of still images on one charge of the EN-EL15 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery loaded in the camera body. As power sources, one EN-EL15, EH-5b AC Adapter (with EP-5B Power Connector) and MB-D14 Multi-Power Battery Pack can be used.

Full HD quality utilizing 24.3 effective megapixels:
The D610 supports Full HD 1,920 x 1,080; 30p. EXPEED 3 processes high-pixel-count data of approx. 24.3 effective megapixels optimally to deliver high-resolution movies with reduced jaggies and moiré. Noise reduction optimized for movie recording effectively reduces noise, while maintaining definition. Smooth gradation with minimum block noise which tends to occur in compression, and movie recording with reduced random noise at high ISO setting are realized. The file size is compressed with the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC format and approx. 29 min. 59 s maximum recording time is achieved. You can also select 1,280 x 720; 60p, suitable for recording movements more smoothly. The movie-record button is located next to the shutter-release button enabling smooth start/stop of movie recording as if shooting still images. Image blur caused by camera shake is minimized.

Time-lapse photography that reproduces time transition at high speed:
Time-lapse photography lets you shoot automatically at designated intervals and save as a movie to replay slow-moving activity at high speed. Without complicated calculation or editing, you can simply set shooting interval and time on the menu display to generate a movie within the camera, from 24 to 36,000 times faster than regular playback. You can record a dramatic sequence of natural phenomena such as the flow of clouds, movements of stars, the blooming of flowers, or cars and people coming and going in a city scene.

Multi-area mode Full HD D-Movie that delivers two selectable movie formats:
The D610's movie function offers two movie formats, selectable according to the photographer's creative intentions. The FX-based format renders exquisitely shallow depth of field with beautiful bokeh effects, taking advantage of the large image sensor. In the DX-based format, it is possible to get close enough to the subject with a short-focal-length lens because of its smaller image area. Having two movie formats in one camera and an arsenal of NIKKOR lenses including DX lenses gives you much more creative expression.

Index marking convenient for in-camera movie editing:
The D610 allows you to choose the role played by the preview button during movie live view via custom menu. If "Index marking" is set, you can add indices at important frames during movie recording to locate the frames quickly in later-stage in-camera editing. Indices are indicated along with the progress bar, which is easy to confirm visually.

Sound control with various options:
The D610 incorporates an external microphone terminal. If you attach the compact ME-1 Stereo Microphone (optional) you can record clear sound while significantly reducing mechanical noise. Moreover, the D610 employs a headphone terminal that lets you effectively monitor audio with optional stereo headphones. The audio level can be finely adjusted in 30 steps. While the sound level indicators on an LCD monitor offer visual confirmation of audio level during movie live view, and the microphone sensitivity can be controlled precisely in 20 incremental steps.

Flicker reduction function:
This function reduces flicker effects and vertical lines that may occur on a screen under artificial lighting such as fluorescent or mercury lamps during live view or video recording. The auto mode in the flicker reduction menu can automatically identify the flicker frequency to ensure appropriate exposure control that causes less flicker. Manual selection of 50 Hz and 60 Hz is also available when needed.

Simultaneous display of movie and movie live view output on external monitors via HDMI:
The D610 employs an HDMI mini-pin connector. Simultaneous display on an LCD monitor and external monitor is available. In movie live view, it is possible to output in the same resolution as the recording size of the movie (max. 1,920 x 1,080). In movie recording or movie live view, you can opt not to display the setting information which appears on the LCD, on the connected equipment via HDMI. This is convenient for viewing the entire frame when the image captured with a camera needs to be checked in real time with the large screen of the monitor connected via HDMI. Also, it is possible to record uncompressed movie live view data directly to an external device before recording it to an SD memory card, meeting demands of professionals who need uncompressed high-quality movie footage to edit on connected equipment. Furthermore, if the camera is connected to a TV compatible with HDMI-CEC, remote playback operation of the camera using a TV remote control is available.

Enjoy expressing your creativity with the built-in flash:
The D610's built-in flash has a guide number of approx. 12/39 (m/ft, ISO 100, 20°C/68°F) and provides coverage for the angle of view of a 24mm lens. The superior flash control accuracy only Nikon can provide is highly praised by professionals and realizes flash shooting with natural light.

Built-in flash commander function enables a variety of creative lighting:
Furthermore, the built-in flash incorporates a commander function that supports Advanced Wireless Lighting. It can control a single group or two independent groups containing several remote Speedlights wirelessly. By lighting from a wide range of directions, you can enjoy shooting with a variety of lights, for example, shooting flowers vividly, rendering face lines and details sharply and reproducing the subtle textures of subjects.

Wirelessly trigger flash Soft, natural-looking light

Scene Modes choose the most appropriate settings according to shooting scenes:
The D610 incorporates Scene Modes. If you select a mode according to the scene, the D610 automatically chooses the most appropriate settings. There are a variety of modes such as High key, Low key, Landscape, Sunset and Silhouette.

WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter (optional):
By attaching the optional WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter to the D610's USB connector, two-way communication between the camera and a smart device such as a smartphone or tablet computer with built-in wireless communication function is possible. By using the remote shooting function that allows you to release the shutter of a camera from a distance, it is possible to use the monitor display of the smart device as a live view display and shoot from the best angle. The taken images can be transmitted wirelessly and you can enjoy a variety of applications such as uploading to an SNS or attaching them to a mail easily. The WU-1b is compatible with smart devices using the Android OS and iOS.

NIKON IMAGE SPACE:
"NIKON IMAGE SPACE" is a free, online image sharing and storage service. With a rapid, highly convenient user interface and simple operation flow, you can upload/download, browse, organize and share pictures and movies, as well as coordinate with SNS, smoothly and simply. "Basic account," with a maximum of 2 GB storage space, is available to all registered users. "Special account," that can be used by Nikon digital camera owners, offers storage space up to 20 GB and various useful functions, including the ability to set a password when sharing images and restrict image download.

Extensive retouch menus:
The D610 comes equipped with a wide range of image-editing menus. Captured images and movies can be edited in-camera without using a computer. The extensive retouch menus include NEF (RAW) processing that enables functions such as White balance that offers selectable auto modes of A1 (Normal) and A2 (Keep warm lighting colors), Vignette control and D-Lighting. Also, there are a variety of menus like Selective color, Straighten, Distortion control, Color sketch and Miniature effect. Moreover, Edit movie allows you to choose the start and end points simultaneously, and it is also possible to save a selected frame as a JPEG image. The D610 incorporates retouch button (doubles as Picture Control button) on the back of the camera to enhance operability.
