Nikon D810 Digital SLR Camera Body

The evolution of high resolution.

One look at the jaw-dropping image quality possible with the Nikon D810 and you'll never look at image quality the same way. The level of detail and sharpness, the wide dynamic range and rich tonality in nearly any light is simply staggering -- almost unimaginable until now. The D810 truly raises the bar for image quality with the all-new FX-format full-frame image sensor design -- 36.3-megapixels (without an optical low-pass filter) along with Nikon's latest EXPEED 4 image processing engine. The EXPEED 4 improves performance and image quality and also offers an ISO range of 64 to 12800, which expands to 32 to 51200. There's also a new RAW Small Size option, which produces 16MP images with much smaller file sizes. The shutter mechanism has been redesigned and a first curtain electronic shutter added in order to reduce the risk of 'shutter shake'.

On the video front, the D810 offers full HD recording at 1080/60p/24p with manual exposure control, focus peaking and zebra pattern, manual exposure control, and audio level adjustment. New features include uncompressed HDMI output with simultaneous recording to a memory card, a new 'flat' Picture Control (designed with post-production in mind), highlight weighted metering, Auto ISO in manual mode, and much more.

Key Features:

36.3-MP FX-format sensor
The D810 truly raises the bar for image quality and dynamic range. An all-new FX-format full-frame image sensor design -- 36.3-megapixels with no optical low-pass filter -- is paired with Nikon's innovative EXPEED 4 image processing for flawless detail retention from snow white to pitch black, beautiful noise-free images from ISO 64 to ISO 12,800, an extremely wide dynamic range, flattering well-saturated skin tones and much more. The combination reveals the true optical precision of NIKKOR lenses, which provide flawless rendering even at these pixel counts. For those seeking the ultimate in DSLR image quality, the D810 delivers.

EXPEED 4
The Nikon EXPEED 4 processor is an upgraded image-processing engine over its EXPEED 3 predecessor. This not only accelerates the high-speed processing of massive amounts of image data, but also extends the ISO sensitivity range for broader flexibility -- from ISO 64 to ISO 12,800 as its standard range. The payoff? You can confidently shoot in low light with suppressed noise at high ISO settings. Up against twilight? No problem. Shooting landscapes by hand in the bright morning sun? No worries, you've got the range. Produce images of superlative precision and quality even in the most challenging shooting conditions.

SAMPLE IMAGES

Up to 7 fps burst rate
The D810 performs with astounding speed and precision. Capture 5 fps at full resolution and in 5:4 crop mode, 6 fps in 1:2 crop mode and 7 fps in DX-crop mode. Enjoy tack-sharp focus -- crucial in high-resolution images -- thanks to an Advanced Multi-CAM 3500FX AF sensor that uses 51 focus points, including 15 cross-type sensors, 11 of which work all the way to f/8, plus a new Group Area AF. Internal vibration has been nearly eliminated with a newly designed sequencer mechanism and Electronic Front Curtain Shutter system. You can even quickly spot-check your focus by zooming in 46x on the large 3.2-inch 1,229k-dot display with RGBW alignment and monitor highlights during video capture with zebra striping right in the display. The D810 is as nimble as it is precise.

Extensive ISO range
You can set sensitivity from ISO 64 all the way up to ISO 51200 equivalent when filming in [M] mode, and the auto ISO function lets you configure the maximum ISO settings you want to work with. EXPEED 4 minimizes noise across all sensitivities, allowing you to shoot with high image quality under low light, and record bright scenes with sumptuous tonality.

Cinema Ready
The D810 is the full-frame DSLR that cinematographers, camera operators and multimedia photographers have been waiting for. Bring the camera's remarkable image quality and dynamic range to 1080p videos recorded at 60/50/30/25/24p uncompressed to an external device, compressed to an internal CF/SD card or both simultaneously. Move between dark and light scenes without any iris or frame-rate adjustments thanks to ISO Auto Adjust. Smoothly change a shot's depth of field with power iris control. Shoot in a flat picture style that enhances dynamic range and streamlines post-production work. Even enjoy broadcast-caliber audio control right in the camera. Let the D810 and the vast collection of NIKKOR lenses take your production to the next level.

Moviemaking freedom
Take complete control over footage while filming. You can set sensitivity from ISO 64 all the way up to ISO 51200 (equivalent) in M mode, and the Auto ISO function lets you configure the maximum ISO settings you want to work with. Nikon's 3D noise reduction reduces random noise, distortion, and flicker when filming at high sensitivities. Zebra mode shows you exactly where highlights are blown on the camera monitor.

Multi-area D-Movie
For moviemaking in diverse conditions, D-Movie offers broadcast-quality video in multiple frame formats. The D810 records Full HD (1080p) movies in FX and DX formats at 50p/60p frame rates with markedly reduced noise, moiré, and false color. It offers clean HDMI out, plus simultaneous capture of full-resolution footage in-camera and on an external recorder.

Multi-CAM 3500FX 51-point AF system
Fine-tuned for ultra-high resolution images. Configurable in 9-point, 21-point, and 51-point coverage settings and sensitive down to -2 EV (ISO 100, 20°C/68°F). Advancements include improved lock-on and options for AF mode restrictions. Fifteen cross-type sensors in the center are compatible with AF NIKKOR lenses with open aperture of f/5.6 or faster, and 11 central focus points work with an open aperture of f/8.

Group Area AF
Experience enhanced subject detection and tracking. Group Area AF mode constantly monitors five different AF fields, offering improved acquisition and background isolation when shooting subjects that are comparatively small and close to a high-contrast or distracting background. The 5-point AF area can be shifted across the 51-point array as composition demands.

GROUP AREA AF

RAW Size S
For faster image transfer and smoother post-production, Nikon's new RAW Size S file format delivers richly graded 12-bit uncompressed Nikon NEF files. RAW Size S has a quarter of the resolution and half the size of uncompressed RAW Size L, yet it exhibits the richness and malleability of RAW format.

Picture Control 2.0
Whether shooting stills or video, Nikon's second-generation Picture Control system provides invaluable tools for before and after the shoot. A dedicated button on the camera body takes you straight to the Picture Control menu, where you can take precise control over sharpening, contrast, brightness, hue, and saturation. You can now tailor images in finer increments of 0.25,3 while brightness can be adjusted in a wider ±1.5 range.

PORTRAIT VIVID MONOCHROME

Sharp and steady
The D810's shutter/mirror box architecture and electronic front-curtain feature ensure the sharpest possible results. The shutter/mirror mechanism reduces image shake for a steady viewfinder image with minimal blackout during high-speed shooting. When activated, the electronic front-curtain shutter reduces the risk of micro-blur in even subtle details by minimizing internal vibrations during exposure.

Picture Control evolves
Take complete control over sharpening, contrast, brightness, hue, and saturation when shooting stills and video. Shoot with the Flat setting for the ultimate freedom in post-production: retain all the details and preserve rich tonal information in both highlights and shadows. Use the Clarity setting to precisely adjust contrast and differentiate fine structures.

Color-tune monitor and viewfinder
A deeper grip ensures stable handling, even for small hands. A brighter viewfinder offers ~100% frame coverage, 0.7x magnification and high contrast organic EL information display for easier visibility. The scratch- and shock-resistant 3.2-inch TFT LCD display has wide viewing angles and enhanced visibility in sunlight. Its color can be calibrated to match an external monitor, and a new split-screen feature lets you monitor two different points of a scene side-by-side to ensure proper leveling or focus.

Split-screen display zoom
Check leveling and sharpness with complete precision using the Live View split-screen zoom. This feature lets you compare two points in the image: each point is enlarged and displayed on the split screen.

High-fidelity audio control
Increased options for audio control mean the D810 offers improved sound recording and greater overall flexibility. A stereo microphone input and an audio out let you fine-tune audio levels in isolation both before and during recording. You can select the sound range (wide/voice), and wind noise can be reduced when recording with the built-in stereo microphone, making it possible to achieve clearer audio quality in challenging situations

Fast, durable, responsive
The D810 starts up in approximately 0.12 seconds and boasts a shutter release lag of just 52ms. The Kevlar/carbon fiber-composite shutter unit is tested to 200,000 releases and a shutter speed of 1/8000 to 30s, with flash synchronization at up to 1/250s.

Unlimited continuous shooting
Capture countless JPEGs and produce spectacular light-trail photography. Shoot in continuous release mode with a shutter speed of 4 seconds or slower, and you can record as many high-quality JPEGs as your media cards and battery life allow. With an extremely short time gap between each exposure, you can seamlessly join shots of star trails or taillights to beautiful effect, using third-party software.

Total Digital Imaging System
Draw out the full potential of the D810's 36.3-MP sensor with the wide range of NIKKOR lenses. With their exceptionally high resolving power, NIKKOR lenses meet the demands of photographers in every field. Also fully compatible with Nikon's industry-leading Creative Lighting System, the D810 works with a range of versatile Speedlights for creative flash photography on or off-camera.

High-capacity EN-EL15 battery
Ultra-compact and lightweight lithium-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 1900 mAh (7.0 V). Capture up to 1,200 still images on a single charge.

Storage media
Two card slots for a smooth shooting experience. One CF card slot for high-speed UDMA 7 cards, and one SD card slot for high-speed, high-capacity SDXC and UHS-I cards.

Durable magnesium alloy body
The D810 with magnesium alloy, stringently tested weather and dust sealing, a shutter that's been tested to 200,000 cycles, longer battery life, and advanced in-camera editing like NEF (RAW) processing, distortion control, image overlay and more, makes the D810 as reliable on the road as it is in the studio.

WEATHER SEALED MAGMESIUM ALLOY BODY

Wired and wireless connection
The D810 supports Ethernet and wireless LAN. To connect, use the optional UT-1 Data Transmitter together with the WT-5 Wireless Transmitter.
