Panasonic Lumix S1 / S1R Full Frame Cameras and Lenses Announced

They’ve been in the works for a long time, with rumors on specs and pricing floating around for months, but now it’s official… the Panasonic Lumix S1 and Lumix S1R will be available in early April!  The lower-resolution S1 will launch at $2499 for the body, $3399 with the new 24-105mm f/4 L-mount lens.  The high-res (47.3 MP) S1R will debut at $3699 for the body, $4599 with the 24-105.

While both cameras share the same body and the majority of high-end features, the S1 is the more accessible camera for hybrid shooters, offering a 24.2MP sensor and the ability to capture full-sensor, oversampled 4K/30p video (cropped at 60p).  An optional V-Log and 4:2:2 10-bit recording updates will come later for those who need the additional color-grading capability.

The S1R, meanwhile, has that massive resolution for photographers who need to capture as much detail as possible.  It looks exactly the same (apart from the conspicuous red R), but here’s a few pictures anyway!

What do the cameras have in common?  Frankly, an impressive selection of features that make these new cameras competitive with everything on the market:
